T-Series vs. PewDiePie

On Monday morning, Indian YouTube channel T-Series got ahead of Swedish YouTuber PewDiePie for more than two hours, with T-Series getting 1,100 more subscribers than his competition.

At the time of this writing, T-Series has 90,649,931 subscribers on YouTube, whereas PewDiePie has 90,457,675 subscribers. It also sends out red alerts whenever T-Series passes PewDiePie, which was the most earlier this week. The digital one-upmanship is heating up with PewDiePie, and its fans in particular, ready to stop at nothing to reach the 100- million milestone.

T-Series primarily contains Indian music videos (Bollywood music and Indi-pop) as well as Bollywood film trailers, and uploads several videos every day. The campaign encouraged people to make T-Series the top YouTube channel in the world.

The Time magazine named Kjellberg one of the "The World's 100 most influential people", however, his rise has also been accompanied by numerous controversies. He later deleted those videos and apologized.

This latest seesaw in subscriber count follows a freakish incident, where the attacker involved in the New Zealand mass shootings urged in his Facebook live stream to "subscribe to PewDiePie".

While this initial virus began spreading in December 2018, another ransomware program has taken hold more recently in March 2019. PewDiePie said on Twitter that he felt "absolutely sickened having my name uttered by this person". "My heart and thoughts go out to the victims, families and everyone affected by this tragedy", he tweeted. The music label has more than 65 billion views overall to date for its music videos which is three times PewDiePie's count of less than 21 billion lifetime views for "let's play" videos, vlogs and comedy sketches. The ascent of Indian music label is a direct result of the Indians who joined YouTube in the last couple of years.

YouTubers such as MrBeast, Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, and Logan Paul have voiced their support for PewDiePie, and many of PewDiePie's fans have made efforts to gain subscribers for his channel.
