The 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang in new Grabber Lime Ford

Now we get to learn about an awesome new color called Grabber Lime that'll be offered on that auto and the rest of the Mustang lineup for the 2020 model year. The automaker has dipped into what it's referring to as its "heritage-inspired" paint swatches for the new hue, a nod back to vintage Mustang finishes decades ago.

Ford says the Grabber Lime that will be available on the 2020 Mustang isn't an exact match to its 1970s counterpart, but it remains a vivid and eye-catching shade of green. Back then, the cars were somewhat more drab than today's vibrant, over-saturated finishes, but it's still enough to give the 2020 Mustang a highly distinctive look.

"It's lime green on steroids", Barb Whalen, Ford color and materials manager, said. It won't just be green, either.

Other bold colors will also be offered, including Twister Orange and Red Hot Metallic. "Aspirational and confident, they are fun, youthful colors that make a statement of how you want the world to see you and who you want to be".

Now, we don't know if any of that is true, but undoubtedly there will be more than a few people who are stoked for the return of bright, garish colors to muscle cars.

Ford's new Mustang Shelby GT500 is nearly ready for its showroom debut.

Ford is slowly releasing details on its preeminent pony auto ahead of its Fall 2019 on-sale date.
