The tweet came while India's Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale began his Washington visit for talks with United States officials.

The trial comes amid tensions between India and Pakistan after a suicide bomber of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) killed over 40 CRPF personnel in Kashmir's Pulwama district on February 14. Pakistan's Foreign Office was quoted in media there as saying that it was to give "Pakistan's perspective on the recent regional developments".

Welcoming the German Foreign Minister, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan attaches high importance to its relations with Germany, which are characterized by shared democratic values and multifaceted cooperation.

On relations with India, Qureshi said, the premier had offered a hand of friendship towards New Delhi after assuming office.

The United States continued to maintain pressure on Pakistan, according to a readout of the meeting issued by the State Department.

Gokhale is scheduled to participate in the India Strategic Dialogue, at the State Department on Tuesday morning with Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale.

"When Prime Minister Khan came into power six months ago he inherited a lot of challenges, including corruption and other socio-economic ills, which had to be overcome", Qureshi noted. "They also agreed that those who support or abet terrorism in any form should be held accountable", the statement said.

On February 27, Pakistani fighters had transgressed into the Indian air space in Jammu and Kashmir and tried to target Indian military positions before they were chased away.

"There is enough evidence where one could speculate with confidence that the Balakot strike by the Indian Air Force was successful and Pakistan has not been able to prove otherwise since it has not enabled the global media or national media to visit the site", he told ANI.

The escalation of tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours prompted the major powers to intervene and urged both Pakistan and India to de-escate.

He said that Pakistan was a peace-loving nation but if subjected to aggression by adversary, it would respond with full force.
