Manchester United's long-awaited Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night didn't disappoint - for neutral fans that is.

Manchester United will play their first Champions League game under new head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who replaced Jose Mourinho.

A disappointing night for United got worse when midfielder Pogba was sent off for a second booking after a foul on Dani Alves.

"It was hard from the opening minute but I knew this was going to happen", Di Maria told Cadena Cope radio of the atmosphere as quoted in the Manchester Evening News. "Then again, that is the level we need to aim for at this club", the Norwegian said. I wouldn't begrudge his high wage, either, if I thought that he was truly putting his all in and playing well, but when you give someone that kind of money you expect a lot more.

"United must take a lead into Paris, and Paul Pogba has been in vast form".

"We've had a great run, we came into this game in a great frame of mind, great form but of course it was a big step up, they have quality from the keeper to the striker".

"So, it's hard because against these kind of teams, such good teams, you don't want to concede goals from corners".

After a scoreless first half, Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe scored within seven minutes to put PSG in the box seat in pursuit of the quarter-finals. I couldn't say any chance from open play.

"What Manchester United is now to me are a counter attacking team with very mobile players and one player in the middle like Pogba who can create the first difference". We had loads of crosses second half but the movement wasn't there. Something to learn (from).

But what was striking to people around the team was how composed Tuchel and his players were.

"So now we have good examples".

"He's not the Alexis Sanchez we fell in love with at Arsenal".

"We will go to Paris to try to do something".

"We've been talking about top four".

Solskjaer insisted his United side must treat their chastening defeat as a learning experience and demanded a response ahead of Monday's FA Cup fifth round trip to Chelsea and their following Premier League game at home to title challengers Liverpool.
