Atlanta Hawks guard Jeremy Lin (7) dribbles the ball as Washington Wizards forward Jeff Green (32) defends in the second quarter at Capital One Arena.

The injury occurred in the second quarter of Saturday night's victory at NY.

Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet will miss at least three weeks with a left thumb injury, the team says.

Guard Jeremy Lin and the Atlanta Hawks are finalizing a buyout of his contract, and he then expects to sign with the Toronto Raptors, according to an ESPN report. The Air Canada Centre fans, many of whom were there to witness the so-called Linsanity, erupted in a mix of disbelief and delirium.

Lin's salary - $13.8 million for the 2018-19 season - makes it impossible for a team to claim him off waivers. The Raptors host the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night. He's an elite competitor.

Lin is averaging 10.7 points and 3.5 assists while shooting 46.6% from the field in his ninth season.

The plan to enter into an agreement with Lin comes one day after the Raptors finalized the conversion of two-way player Chris Boucher's contract to an National Basketball Association standard contract.

The Raptors are now one game back of the Milwaukee Bucks for the top seed in the Eastern Conference, as they both have 41 wins but the Raptors have two extra losses.

Lin has averaged 11.8 points in 457 career games.
