Leonardo DiCaprio & Martin Scorsese To Produce Limited Series For Hulu

Paramount Television will produce. Since 2003, the project has been in the hands of multiple studios, including twice with Paramount.

The Devil in the White City tells the true story of two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose fates were forever linked by The Chicago World's Fair of 1893.

DiCaprio bought the rights to the book back in 2010 when he planned to star in it for a movie, but unfortunately that film never happened. It follows Daniel H. Burnham, a brilliant and fastidious architect racing to make his mark on the world and Henry H. Holmes, a handsome and cunning doctor who fashioned his own pharmaceutical "Murder Castle" on fair grounds - a palace built to seduce, torture and mutilate young women.

It was also initially rumoured that DiCaprio had eyed-up the role of Holmes for himself, but it is no longer clear if he or Scorsese will be involved beyond producing roles for the new series. The transition into a streaming network series may change that approach.

Martin Scorsese (who was attached to direct and produce) and Leonardo DiCaprio (originally on to star and produce) are still involved, though the announcement only now lists them as executive producers, though they may still take more active roles if they like what the show becomes.
