Dressed in a red velvet blazer paired with a white dress shirt and black trousers, 9-year-old Raif-Henok Emmanuel Kendrick took the stage to introduce his grandmother's medley but left the Twitterverse claiming he "stole the show" after he flossed and revealed his nickname for Ross: "Grandmommy" during his speech.

"Thank you for being here to celebrate my 75th birthday", she said to large applause. The former Supreme looked fabulous in a flowing red dress as she took to the stage. "So, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my grand-mommy Diana Ross". The suited and booted child said, "Did she say "little guy"?" "I'm nearly 4 foot 9". She has shown the world that nothing is beyond our reach. She then walked through the crowd singing "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)".

After telling the crowd "don't be lazy" as she prompted everyone to stand, she ended the performance by exclaiming, "Happy birthday to me!" "Learn, dream, unlock new doors". (There were scheduled to be even more big acts taking the stage, but several artists - including Ariana Grande, rather publicly - pulled out from the ceremony.) As for this year's nominees, Kendrick Lamar began the night on top with eight nominations to his name. Also there was Motown creator Berry Gordy, 89, the father of Diana's oldest child, Rhonda.
