MS Dhoni's presence in World Cup important for decision-making Yuvraj Singh

Veteran Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh Friday said Mahendra Singh Dhoni's presence is crucial to the country's World Cup chances as he is a "guiding" force for current captain Virat Kohli and "important" in decision-making. With most global players having World Cup commitments, Yuvraj might end up being one of the pivotal players for Mumbai.

One of the greatest limited overs cricketers of all time, we might've seen the last of Yuvraj Singh in an worldwide jersey. And as a wicket-keeper, you are in the best position to monitor the game and he has done that fantastically over the years.

However, there is still contention over his batting position and now, Yuvraj Singh has weighed in on the issue. He has been a great captain. I feel his presence is very important and in term of decision making. "He had a fantastic tournament in Australia and it is good to see him hitting the ball, like he used to do".

"That you have to ask Dhoni, which number he has to bat", he added while speaking to the reporters.

Snapped by the Mumbai Indians for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) edition, the Punjab all-rounder was elated about the opportunity of reuniting with Rohit Sharma. I hope to contribute in the middle and that'll take some weight off him. (We will) see how the combinations (go).

He also lauded fellow Punjab player Shubman Gill, who recently made his India One Day debut in New Zealand, saying his progress over the last one year has been fantastic.

"I'm very excited to play under Rohit". It is unbelievable, how he has improved so much. Commenting on the qualities that made Vidarbha a champion squad, he said: "They have got some great players in Wasim Jaffer and Umesh [Yadav] and an outstanding coach in Chandrakant Pandit who has definitely got the best out of the team".

"Also impressed with how domestic cricket is improving, the other teams are improving... It is good to see [progress] in domestic cricket", he said.
