First child death reported this flu season near Cincinnati

Three more people have died from the flu in Douglas County. The young patient died in Highland County, east of Cincinnati.

WLWT-TV reports that the Ohio Department of Health confirmed Tuesday that the boy was 3 years of age and his death is under investigation.

The organization reported that it's now widespread throughout the state. The state also reported six child deaths related to the flu past year. So far, OH has reported 1,832 flu-associated hospitalizations this flu season, making a decrease from 8,611 reporter during the same period past year.

Warner previously advised that everyone should get immunized against the flu, and the Centers for Disease Control recommends immunizations for everyone 6 months of age and older. "If you are sick with the flu, stay home from work or school to prevent spreading it to others", de Fijter said.
