Hurts has plenty of suitors, including Washington State, TCU, Maryland, among others, but Miami makes the most sense for immediate playing time at a program that desperately needs help at the position. Quarterbacks coach Dan Enos was floated as a strong candidate for multiple offensive coordinator openings in the NCAA, but has now made a decision.

The Canes started their search for a new offensive coordinator after getting rid of their head coach and OC after a disappointing season.

Enos was a quarterback at Michigan State. Former offensive coordinator Mike Locksley took the head coaching job at Maryland, wide receivers coach Josh Gattis was named the offensive coordinator at MI this week and offensive line coach Brent Key joined the Georgia Tech staff. The hiring of Enos could impact Miami's ability to land a major transfer.

Last season under Enos' tutelage, Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa posted one of the best seasons by a quarterback in college football history.

"His experience as a head coach will also provide invaluable insight to our entire program", Diaz said.

Alabama's offensive staff has lost four assistants since the CFP championship game loss to Clemson, including Locksley, Gattis and offensive line coach Brent Key, who departed for Georgia Tech.

Here's something else Hurricanes fans should love: Alabama led the nation in passing efficiency and was second in yards-per-play at 7.8. Coach Diaz has a clear vision for this program as we move forward and it's an honor to help build the Hurricanes in his image.

Coach Manny Diaz said Enos was the top choice all along. This was an opportunity I felt I couldn't pass up.

"I also want to express my honest appreciation to Nick Saban and the Alabama program for giving me the opportunity to coach there this past season. I learned so much during my time there and I will always be grateful".

Enos will also be tasked with helping develop a quarterbacks room that seemingly struggled on and off the field.

Enos was head coach at Central Michigan from 2010-14, leading the Chippewas to a 26-36 record and two bowl games. Diaz has set the tone for his staff with this pair of hires and he is trying to take the Hurricanes in a new direction after a disastrous end to former coach Mark Richt's tenure in South Florida.
