Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has spoken positively about the possibility of Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata joining the club.

Italian outlet, Tuttosport, have reported that Morata is reportedly close to agreeing on a deal which would see him return to Spain with Sevilla.

While Chelsea are looking to offload Morata, who has scored five Premier League goals this season, they are desperate to bring in a replacement.

The Spaniard arrived at Chelsea in 2017 from Real Madrid in a deal worth £60 million but has failed to live up to his billing at the club.

Peter Crouch, who now plays for Stoke City, called upon Chelsea to re-sign former striker Diego Costa, who joined Atletico Madrid just last summer.

Morata has repeatedly been linked with an exit in recent weeks, while Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri recently declared his eagerness for the club to sign a striker.

Sevilla were in the running for the 26-year-old but given they may now sign Munir El Haddadi this month, rather than wait until the summer, Atletico could have a clear run towards Morata.

"The only thing I'm thinking about is the upcoming match against Levante", Simeone told reporters.

Chelsea had originally been heavily linked with Gonzalo Higuain, but the complicated nature of any such deal given that the player is on loan at AC Milan from Juventus looks to be a problem.

"I don't speak about players that aren't with us, only those that are".

However, Atletico manager Diego Simeone remained coy on the interest in Morata. "We need to wait until January 31".

Instead, Costa and Morata could be lining up alongside one another in Spain during the second half of the season, if reports are to be believed.
