Priyanka Chopra has responded to the contentious The Cut article that accused her of tricking husband Nick Jonas into marriage.

In freakish news, The Cut - online branch of New York Magazine - have apologised for a weird article which labelled Priyanka Chopra a "scam artist" for her recent wedding to Nick Jonas.

"All Nick wanted was a possible fling with Hollywood's latest It Woman, but instead he wound up staring straight at a life sentence with a global scam artist", the author wrote.

The piece began with a nasty comment which could be read as, "Nicholas Jonas married into a fraudulent relationship against his will this past Saturday, December the 1st, and I'll tell you why I think so".

Sophie, who was one of Priyanka's bridesmaids, also took to Twitter to defend Chopra. "We've removed it and apologize". The couple had a short courtship, after which they chose to tie the knot on December 1 and 2 in a Christian and Hindu wedding ceremony. Talking about her 75-foot-train designed by Ralph Lauren, Priyanka said, "When I learned that Ralph Lauren has designed only three wedding dresses in 50 years, I was blown away". The article on @priyankachopra was sexist, racist and disgusting. It's not even in my stratosphere.

Meanwhile, Nick's brother Joe Jonas and his fiancée and Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner also lashed out at the publication. "These kind of random things can't disturb it". @TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words. Also it's written by a woman which is so sad.

Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee on Thursday shared photos from Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas' Indian wedding that took place at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.
