Pittsburgh Steelers' running back James Conner has been ruled out for the Oakland Raiders match with an ankle injury.

Conner left this past Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers with a leg injury.

Tomlin said: "James Conner's injury is probably a little more significant than we thought". "I don't know if you would describe it as a high-ankle sprain". Conner is fifth in the NFL with 909 rushing yards, second in the league with 12 rushing touchdowns and fourth with 201 carriers.

Conner has had a high-flyer of a season so far, having been giving the starting place after Le'Veon Bell made a decision to sit out for the season when he opted to not sign his franchise tender.

Jaylen Samuels will likely lead Pittsburgh's rushing attack with Conner sidelined.

Without Conner, the Steelers will be in a hard place as no other player on the team has even 100 rushing yards through 12 games.

The Steelers (7-4-1) have lost two games in a row, and, after losing two straight games, they are in a battle for the AFC North title against the Baltimore Ravens (7-5).
