While HBO might not be finished with the wonderful world of Westeros, one actor is done for good now that the final season of Game of Thrones has wrapped.

The hugely popular HBO show, based on the author George RR Martin's epic fantasy novel series, is set to end in the New Year after a hugely successful nine-year run. "His answer remains an unequivocal no".

In a recent interview with Hungarian news website, Sorozat Wiki, the actor confirmed that fans will finally get to see the ultimate battle we've all been waiting for since we first saw Jon Snow take on the White Walkers.

If you're harboring any secret hopes that Jon Snow may show up in the forthcoming Game of Thrones prequel, consider them dashed, with actor Kit Harington seemingly putting the kibosh on any rumor that he might make an appearance on a GOT spinoff.

"It was emotional to leave [Game of Thrones], definitely". And that's best for him, the show and viewers. "But I wouldn't say I was sad: if like me you go all the way back to the pilot of Game of Thrones that's nearly 10 years of your life-that's really unusual in an actor's career". Leslie played Ygritte, Jon Snow's love interest, from seasons two through four.

While we'll miss Harington's broody angelic face on the small screen, there's plenty to look forward to with the upcoming HBO series.

In addition to his current role in Sam Shepard's True West, which is now running in London, Harington can be heard lending his voice in the upcoming How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, which will hit theatres in 2019.

Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO in April 2019. The series' unofficial title is The Long Night and it will star Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse.
