MTV Reviving Celebrity Deathmatch With Ice Cube Starring

"Celebrity Deathmatch" is among the most beloved series in a long line of MTV animation classics. "Celebrity Deathmatch" expands Ice Cube's long-standing relationship with the MTV family, with Cube Vision now producing "Hip Hop Squares" for MTV sister brand VH1.

MTV is bringing back irreverent claymation series Celebrity Deathmatch for another round. MTV Studios has stated that, with the new project, they plan to "reimagine [Celebrity Deathmatch] ... for a new generation".

The show originally ran from 1998 through 2002.

MTV Studios is aiming to have Celebrity Deathmatch on a third party network in 2019 as Viacom attempts to monetize its back catalog. In April 2015, MTV2 announced a reboot of the series, but the pilot ultimately was not picked up to series.
