Withings Launches New Pulse HR Fitness Tracker

Withings has announced a new fitness tracker called the Pulse HR.

Unfortunately, the Pulse HR doesn't have built-in Global Positioning System.

The Withings Pulse HR is waterproof to 50m so it's fine for swimming. Its design harkens back to the original Withings Pulse O2, the company's first wrist-worn tracker in 2014 (which can still be found on Amazon for a steal).

The Withings Pulse HR is more of a traditional fitness tracker rather than a smartwatch, like the Steel HR Sport from September. It will also be available in the USA, but not in Australia.

The Pulse HR sticks to conventional fitness tracker design, offering a band style with display, positioned to compete with devices like the Fitbit Charge 3. However, users also have to option to manually select what type of workout they want to track.

Like all Steel HR watches, Pulse HR offers dedicated multisport tracking for over 30 different activities from yoga, volleyball and rowing to boxing, skiing and ice hockey. "The band is the ideal fit for anyone who wants a device that offers important tracking features like heart rate monitoring at an affordable rate".

Further, the wearable features an OLED screen that displays stats such as step count, distance and phone notifications. You'll be able to track your heart rate zones over time, giving you a better idea how to plan your workouts and reach your fitness goals.

Pulse HR offers a superior battery life of up to 20 days, making it the flawless companion for day to night tracking.

Is the Pulse HR worth buying?

The Pulse HR is comparably priced to Fitbit's Charge 3 and Garmin's Vivosmart 4, but both of those bands offer more advanced features, including SpO2 sensors for tracking blood oxygenation levels while sleeping.

If you live in the United Kingdom, you're able to pre-order the Withings Pulse HR now from the official Withings website and Amazon, and it's due to start shipping on December 5. Health Mate also connects with more than 100 third-party apps such as Apple Health, Google Fit, or MyFitnessPal.
