"There appears to be a movie version of "Breaking Bad" but I honestly have not even read the script", Cranston, 62, said on The Dan Patrick Show, a national radio program.

The groundbreaking AMC series "Breaking Bad" will be returning to the small screen - or the big screen - in the form of a movie.

White was an ailing chemistry teacher at the outset of the series when it premiered in 2008, but over the course of its five-season run transformed into a feared drug dealer known as Heisenberg. Cranston said he hasn't read the script, but would "absolutely" like to play Walter White if his character is in it.

Cranston, an Oscar nominee for best actor in 2016 for his work on the Hollywood-set biopic "Trumbo", said he believed the film would offer fans some more closure for "at least a couple" of the characters.

Cranston - whose character did not survive the series finale - hinted that the film would follow the stories of characters whose journeys were "not completed". "So there's the question of whether or not we'll even see Walter White in this movie".

However, Cranston wouldn't hesitate to sign up if approached.

"I'm excited about it because it's Breaking Bad and it was the greatest professional period of my life and I can't wait to see all those people again".

Not just any movie, mind you, but one that's going to be written and produced by creator Vince Gilligan himself, and is going to be a direct sequel following the events of "the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom".
