Sony Play Station 4 Pro Gets a Quieter Model With a Silent Launch

Sony, two years post the original launch of PlayStation 4 Pro, seems to have silently launched an updated variant that's also quieter.

For those that were looking to scoop up the new Red Dead Redemption 2 Pro bundle, the upgraded system is confirmed to be the model included with the latest deal. There were even minor gains against the previous CUH-7100 revision.

Microsoft's Xbox One X is still said to run quieter than this new PlayStation 4 Pro model, but Sony is tightening the gap. Arguably, the existence of the Pro has spurred on the adoption and continued development of reconstruction and temporal-based rendering techniques that have allowed relatively modest hardware to punch above its weight in addressing the next generation of display technology - technologies that will surely persist into development for the next wave of consoles. I'm watching the next big step in video games, and it is extraordinary.

Other changes to the console include a different power cable, suggesting a new power supply, and a minor increase in peak power draw compared to the previous model. As noted by Slash Gear, there's already been one revision to the PS4 Pro's launch model, and both reportedly suffer from "jet engine" fan noise. Do any of you now have a PS4 Pro?
