Emma Thompson is officially a Dame!

Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson has received one of Britain's highest awards from Prince William - and thought about giving him a kiss at the Buckingham Palace ceremony.

The 59-year-old star arrived at the palace sporting an emerald green pantsuit fashioned with a badge from the Fawcett Society, which raises awareness for equal pay, and white sneakers ― a welcome departure from the typical royal garb.

English actor Emma Thompson poses with her medal and insignia after she was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London, Nov. 7, 2018.

"I'm very outspoken politically", said the 59-year-old, adding that she hoped to use her damehood to bring attention to so-called "holiday hunger", which sees up to three million United Kingdom children go hungry during the school holidays. "I said, "I can't kiss you, can I?' And he said, 'No don't"!"

"If you're first up, you have to be more formal on such an occasion", the Love Actually star said, "but he's looking wonderful and doing so well".

"I love Prince William", Thompson said after the ceremony.

Thompson is a longtime friend of Prince Charles and the royal family.

"I love Prince William", she gushed.

The two-time Oscar victor was recognized for her contributions to drama throughout her lengthy career, which includes the films "Love, Actually", "Sense And Sensibility", "The Remains Of The Day", "Howard's End", "In The Name Of The Father" and the "Harry Potter" franchise.
