Much to the surprise of the National Basketball Association world, Jimmy Butler suited up and played Wednesday's 2018-19 season opener for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Taylor talked with the Minneapolis Star Tribune, which he owns, for an interview. Moral victories are rightfully lamented in these parts, but if any team ever needed one, it was the Wolves, who have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons ever since Butler requested a trade on September 18.

"No, no, the only thing now is that we are starting to play games and I am asking him to concentrate on coaching", Taylor said.

Taylor told Hartman that Butler's demand made a few weeks ago was the first time he'd heard about the All-Star wanting to be traded, even though Butler has said he told Minnesota that shortly after the team's season ended.

Taylor was asked if Thibodeau is coaching for his job. "What I said to him in the meantime is our GM, Scott Layden, will be talking to other teams to see if there is a trade that works". Thibodeau is entering the third season of five-year deal for about $8 million per season.

Taylor and Thibodeau disagreed over whether to trade disgruntled star Jimmy Butler, with Thibodeau trying to reconcile with Butler and Taylor demanding to trade him.
