The 49ers highlighted memorable moments from their rivalry against the Green Bay Packers, who they visit in their next National Football League contest on Monday night.

The San Francisco 49ers have apologized after leaving former quarterback Colin Kaepernick out of a photo gallery that highlighted the team's history against the Green Bay Packers.

Kaepernick, who played for the 49ers from 2011 through 2016, had several memorable performances against the Packers in his career. "The 49ers organization has tremendous respect and gratitude for the contributions Colin made to our team over the years".

The 49ers (1-4) are on a three-game losing streak as they return to face the Packers (2-2-1) on Monday night. Last year, the former quarterback was included in all seven photo galleries posted on the team's website.

The gallery was billed by the team as the "top moments between the 49ers and Packers since 1950". He also threw for 413 yards in a season-opening win against Green Bay that same season and the next year led a winning drive in a playoff game at Lambeau Field on January 5, 2014.

In 2014, Kaepernick orchestrated a game-winning drive in another playoff victory against the Packers.

"Unfortunately there were a handful of obvious misses in this gallery posted by our website team and we appreciate them being brought to our attention", the 49ers said in a statement. "This oversight does not properly reflect the appreciation our ownership and this team have for Colin".

The team later added photos of Kaepernick.

Kaepernick opted out of his contract the following offseason when the 49ers told him they planned to cut him. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said last month that the team would not consider re-signing him, as he does not fit "with the style of offense that we wanted to go with".
