I think any leak at all was going to attract this type of attention, and with any attention comes backlash to that attention. Let's go through who is playing who. Geralt of Rivia (to be played by Mission Impossible: Fallout's Henry Cavill), a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. Joining Henry Cavill, announced as the lead back in early September, Freya Allan will play Ciri and Anya Chalotra will play Yennefer. Allan has previously been in Into the Badlands and will be featured in BBC's upcoming adaption of War of the Worlds. Chalotra, a relatively new actress, now only has two acting credits in that of The ABC Murders and Wanderlust.

That's the big three. Jodhi May will play Queen Calanthe of Cintra, while Björn Hlynur Haraldsson will play her husband, Eist.

They discussed at length their thoughts on the possibility of a non-white actress playing Ciri, with one fan arguing that the move "could be a step in the wrong direction" and claiming that the minds behind the show were "essentially saying they are prioritizing pushing their own agenda instead of finding the best actors". Adam Levy portrays another Skellige Islander, Myszowor (known as Mousesack in English translations), who appeared in both the books and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

There's bound to be more to come, including the aforementioned casting of Triss and Dandelion, but for now we can gauge what kind of stories to expect in the TV show, and put faces to the names. Canonically, Ciri is white, and the thought of an actress of color bringing her to life in a live-action series ruffled many fans' feathers.

Mimi Ndiweni and Therica Wilson-Read play sorcerers in training, Millie Brady plays an outcast princess, and MyAnna Buring takes the role of the head of the Aretuza magical academy. Anya Chalotra will be taking on the role of the sorceress (and Geralt's primary love interest) Yennefer in the upcoming web series based on author Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy novels. She is Ciri's grandmother, and interestingly, the aunt of Crach an Craite. Unfortunately, fans are not too happy with Netflix's choice for Yennefer.
