A video released by the IS-affiliated Amaq news agency showed three men in a vehicle who appear to be dressed in IRGC uniforms.

Tehran believes that Saudi Arabia is behind the attack, encouraged by the USA and Israel.

The acting commander of Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard said at the funeral that the Islamic Republic would "take revenge" against the USA and some of its biggest regional allies over the violence.

In response to the attack, U.S. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert told Fox News, "The United States condemns all acts of terrorism and the loss of any innocent lives".

Saturday's assault in Ahvaz, the provincial capital of Khuzestan, was blamed on Iran's Arab separatists who Iranian officials claim are supported by the U.S.

"These are ruthless people with no shred of humanity in them", he said.

He said: "America wants to cause chaos and unrest in our country so that it can return to this country, but these are unreal fantasies and they will never achieve their goals". Iran accuses Saudi Arabia and the UAE of doing the same in Khuzestan. There has been no reaction from Saudi Arabia or Israel.
