Cech is being preferred as Arsenal's first choice between the posts this season in the Premier League by new boss Emery and the goalkeeper repaid his manager's faith with a brilliant display on Sunday.

Petr Cech, who has been subject to a fair amount of criticism so far this season, was Arsenal's best player in their win over Everton, with his attacking team-mates effusive in their praise of the goalkeeper. While the result felt harsh on the away side, Everton have now conceded two goals in each of their three away games this term. This is not sometimes how you win the league.

"This club hasn't won the league for over 10 years so obviously you need to get back to knowing how to do it".

Arsenal centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos may be set for a spell on the sidelines after being forced off with a knee injury in the Gunners' 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday.

"I think this is what we lacked over the last three years, since I arrived [in 2015]".

They have won their last four games under Emery despite not playing at their best, and Cech said the new coach has instilled more of a winning mentality at the club.

The Toffees actually begun the match well and had numerous chances to take the lead in the first half with a combination of poor decision making, some ordinary finishing and a strong showing from Gunners keeper Petr Cech all uniting to keep the Merseyside outfit at bay.

Cazorla has never played under Emery, but spoke to the former Sevilla and Paris St-Germain manager this summer before he took charge at the Emirates.

"To believe that we were capable of competing with the big sides in the Premier League and not just settling for third or fourth".

Either way Arsenal fans are loving life at the moment, and will expect their team to conjure up a sixth successive win at home to Brentford on Wednesday in the EFL Cup. You go through periods in the season where you are getting through hard moments, better moments, great moments so we keep our feet on the ground. The first half performance was woeful at times but the Gunners stayed in the game and got the goals when they needed to.

"It is a clear offside for their second goal, and it is a decision at an important stage because at 1-0, we would have kept creating problems for them", he told Sky.
