"Get well soon, Matthew".

Matthew Perry of Friends has revealed that he spent the last three months in hospital after undergoing surgery for a serious health condition.

Matthew Perryrevealed on Twitter on Friday that he has spent the past three months hospitalized.

Recently, Perry's friend Kayti Edwards spoke about the height of the star's addiction, telling Us Weekly that he was "on a roll for about three months" when she realised how bad it had got.

"He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals", a rep told United States publication PEOPLE. We missed you the past few months. "Check", Matthew wrote, which has since been liked nearly 10,000 times.

He said: "For me it lasted about eight months, this feeling of 'Ive made it, I'm thrilled, there's no problem in the world.' And then you realise that it doesn't accomplish anything and it's certainly not filling any holes in your life".

A punctured bowel - or gastrointestinal perforation - can occur along any point in the wall of the gastrointestinal tract, including the stomach, small intestine and large intestine.

Symptoms include severe abdominal pain.

Perry, who famously played Chandler Bing on long-running sitcom Friends, has always been outspoken about his personal battles, including his struggles with sobriety.

"It's an exaggerated form of myself, but I am an open wound out there by the end of the play, that's for sure", he told ET of the play in April 2017.

Although Matthew is in hospital for his bowel operation, he's faced previous hardship after struggling with addiction during his time on Friends.

After finally becoming available on Netflix in January, fans have rewatched the series and it has gained even more popularity.
