Skripal suspects claim they were tourists

The Kremlin-backed station aired the interview a day after President Vladimir Putin said Russian Federation had identified the men sought by Britain and urged them to address the media.

A still image taken from a video footage and released by RT worldwide news channel on September 13, 2018, shows two Russian men with the same names, Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, as those accused by Britain over the case of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, during an interview at an unidentified location, Russia. One of the bystanders later died from the Soviet-era nerve agent after she discovered it in a park disguised in a perfume bottle.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said Friday that Russian authorities will consider Britain's request to interrogate them if it comes.

"Delighted that Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Borishov were able to see the world-class attractions that #Salisbury has to offer. We got wet, took the nearest train and came back" to London, they told RT, Russia's state-run global broadcaster. "Their passports match and the photos and the information from the British side shows it's these people", she said.

Suspicions were also raised when it emerged they had been staying 127 miles away in an east London hotel and not one of the many hotels near Salisbury - despite visiting the city twice in three days, spending hours on trains.

"Our friends had been suggesting for a long time that we visit this wonderful town", Petrov replied.

The two men surfaced a day after President Vladimir Putin said Russian Federation had located Petrov and Boshirov, but that there was nothing special or criminal about them.

"I have no doubt that Ofcom will look at it", said Mark Stephens, a senior member of the law firm Howard Kennedy, adding he expected the regulator would receive complaints about the interview.

The men had some physical similarities to the men shown in British police images. We weren't carrying any.

Prescott had a rough first game of the season, going 19-29 for just 170 yards and no scores en route to a 16-8 loss to the Carolina Panthers .

The RT interview appeared to show that Russian Federation was not planning to deny the veracity of video evidence released by Scotland Yard, but to argue it had been misinterpreted.

"We're afraid to go out, we fear for ourselves, our lives and lives of our loved ones", said Mr Boshirov.

They defended themselves in a freaky interview with Russian state TV on Thursday.

The men also denied that they are, as British Prime Minister Theresa May asserted last week, agents of the GRU, the Russian military intelligence service Skripal had betrayed. The men said that they were simply tourists on holiday, and had been interested in seeing the spire of Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge.

"We can not expect [Russian President] Vladimir Putin and his corrupt associates to change their behavior in Syria, Ukraine or anywhere else until we prove we will hold them to account", Royce said in opening testimony. From there it is believed that they travelled by train into London, arriving at Victoria station at approximately 5.40pm.

What happened to the Skripals?

On March 4, former Russian intelligence officer and convicted British spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were allegedly poisoned with a nerve agent, according to British investigators.

They had been for lunch at a restaurant in central Salisbury on 4 March when they were found "in an extremely serious condition" on a bench outside the restaurant. They recovered after treatment in the hospital.
