The show will be executive produced by Remedy Creative Director Sam Lake, who created Alan Wake.

Contradiction has brought other videogame adaptations to life in the past, including projects like Mortal Kombat: Legacy and Dead Rising: Watchtower. The plan is to start pitching it in October once Calloway has finalized the details.

As for what fans can expect from this series, Lake told Variety that Alan Wake will still be central to the series' story but he's also planning to focus on numerous surrounding characters within the world. "That was Sam's vision". It was influenced by "The Twilight Zone, ' 'Secret Window, ' Hitchcock, 'Northern Exposure, ' a lot of USA television". We plan to work closely with Sam on this show. "This is his baby".

Although Alan Wake was released in May 2010 for the Xbox 360, the gaming population hasn't forgotten Wake's adventure through idyllic Washington. And while IGN thoroughly enjoyed Alan Wake, reviewing it with a 9.0 score, we were less impressed with American Nightmare, awarding it a 7.5.

And hey, if the TV show works out, maybe we'll finally get another game?

From Sonic the Hedgehog to Double Dragon, video game franchises have been gaining mainstream traction with the help of movie and television adaptations. And while that may have been eight years ago, Alan Wake is reportedly making a return to the big screen-the big TV screen.

"Not only that, but through the years we've worked on multiple game concepts and stories for Alan Wake's world that have never seen the light of day", Remedy's Sam Lake added. "We'll be expanding the lore of this insane and dark universe and diving deeper into certain aspects of it than the game ever did". "As before, we're exploring these possibilities and hoping to make it happen when the time is right". However, Lake declined to comment on whether the show's story will be part of the official Alan Wake universe.
