However, the video's description says that the game is set in a "persistent and dynamically generated world" where people are online and interacting with one another to fight enemies and fight treasures.

Have you ever played a Torchlight game before?

Echtra Games is of course led by Runic Games co-founder Max Schaefer, and Frontiers takes place within the same universe as the series' previous games.

Set in the same universe from Torchlight I and II, this shared-world action-RPG brings back numerous franchise's signature features and mechanics.

Torchlight developers Runic Games was shut down at the end of the past year and now Perfect Games, who own the franchise, have revealed a new title in the series but it's unlike it's predecessors. Schaefer said evolving the "Torchlight" universe into a shared world has always been a goal for the franchise. It's coming to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Despite the closure, Perfect World promised it was "committed to supporting and growing Runic Games' beloved franchises". It sounds a lot like Torchlight Frontiers will lean closer towards an MMO style ARPG. Speaking about the game in more detail, Yoon Im (senior vice president of publishing at Perfect World Entertainment) explains that the game is in good hands. The game is being developed by Echtra Games following the shut down of Runic Games in 2017. "Max has put together an all-star team of developers, and we continue to be amazed by the sheer level of talent and wealth of experience that they bring to 'Torchlight Frontiers.' We're proud to have Echtra Games as a part of the company". Torchlight Frontiers is definitely still a Torchlight game, don't worry.
