Discussing the moving chat shortly after with her fellow co-stars, Bush Hager said Lisa-Marie also credited her children; daughter Riley, son Benjamin, and twins Finley and Harper, for giving her goal to fight her addiction.

And at the worst of her addiction, Presley's life was in jeopardy.

"I've come a long way".

The daughter of rock legend Elvis Presley was widely reported to have checked into a Los Angeles rehabilitation facility to tackle a prescription pill problem in August 2016, weeks after splitting from her husband Michael Lockwood, the father of her nine-year-old twin daughters, Harper and Finley.

Now sober, the 50-year-old singer has come clean about her substance abuse hell, insisting that while she had previously used drugs and alcohol in excess, it only really became a problem for her in 2013, as her relationship with Lockwood began to crumble.

She also has four daughters who she says helped her get through the tough times.

"I had to go to rehab several times".

"I'm not ideal, my father wasn't flawless; no one's ideal", she said. "The previous year of our marriage, I was abusing cocaine terribly", Presley said.

The star explains even her counsellor couldn't believe how deeply she had fallen into addiction: "My therapist, she's like, 'You're a miracle..."

She went on to tell the interviewer, Jenna Bush Hager, that while she is "not perfect" what is more important is what she managed to do with everything she learned from her own mistakes.

Joel Weinshanker, the co-producer of the project, said that the album was so meaningful to Presley that she broke down in tears while recording her part for a duet with her father.

'And then you try to help others with it, ' Lisa Marie pointed out.

"I was overwhelmed when I was singing it", Presley admitted.
