Brazilian Ronaldo In Intensive Care In Ibiza Hospital



According to reports in local newspaper Diario de Ibiza, the 2002 World Cup victor was taken to Can Misses Hospital on Friday evening with chest pains where he was seen by doctors.

Ibizan newspaper Diario de Ibiza said he had requested to be transferred to a private hospital, Clinica Nuestra Senora del Rosario, later the same day.

Former Brazil and Real Madrid great Ronaldo Nazario is now in hospital in Ibiza recovering from pneumonia, local media said on Sunday.

The newspaper's sources said the ex-footballer was still in intensive care, but was making good progress.

Staff at Can Misses Hospital said they were unable to give out any information for 'data protection reasons'.

Brazil icon Ronaldo has offered an update on his personal wellbeing following reports he was hospitalised with flu on Friday. Tissue swells, and it can cause coughing and breathing difficulties.

Ronaldo owns property on Ibiza, a Spanish Mediterranean island, and is a frequent visitor. He is thought to have arrived on the island a few days ago before his illness started.

The former Real Madrid forward, who also played for Barcelona, Inter Milan and AC Milan, thanked his fans for their love and well wishes.

Ronaldo finished his career with an impressive 414 goals, 62 of which came in just 98 appearances for the Brazilian national side.

In his later years he battled with overweight because of a thyroid problem.
