England advanced to the semifinal with a 2-0 victory over Sweden on Saturday while Croatia overcame Russian Federation in a penalty shootout.

However, he is optimistic about recovering in time for the Croatia clash on Wednesday night.

But manager Southgate has been more cautious before giving Henderson the all clear, admitting that injuries within the squad still need to be assessed before the semi final match at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

"It's a special feeling to know that people back home and out here in Russian Federation are enjoying the experience just as much as we are", the midfielder said on the eve of the game.

The Liverpool manager has now seemingly turned his attention to the Three Lions because he's been sending Jordan Henderson plenty of texts as England progress through the tournament.

"Southgate understood that he'd go home with two central defenders, so he put three".

The Liverpool FC midfielder is now on duty with his national team in Russian Federation as he bids to try and help the Three Lions win the World Cup for the first time since 1966. The biggest thing for me is just continuing to win - and hopefully a few more wins over the next week'.

Henderson takes "a lot of good things from the past in terms of 66 and what they achieved then" but is not getting ahead of himself given the threat posed by Croatia.

"I can't pick one of them out".

"I can't tell you our plan. but I've played against Madrid and he's world class, one of the best I've played against", the Liverpool midfielder said.
