The Rock Says Daughter Simone Is 'Going to Be a Champ' in WWE

The Rock has beaten some of the biggest legends in WWE history like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, The Undertaker and many more throughout his career and knows when he sees talent.

Johnson explained why he nixed and subsequently returned to "The Rock" as a nickname in a new interview for Jamie Foxx's Grey Goose-sponsored digital series, "Off Script".

"I was told at [one] time, 'Listen, you can't talk about wrestling".

As Entertainment Weekly notes, Johnson dropped "The Rock" from his persona before the release of his 2005 movie "Southland Tales". Once he began crossing over into films, though, Johnson began to phase out "The Rock", to the point where now you can simply say "Dwayne Johnson", and everybody knows who that is. He's now occasionally credited as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. "I was exhausted of trying to be something I wasn't".

It helps, too, that much like Bruce Willis' incarnation of this predicament, Johnson maintains a sense of the situation's absurdity, announcing "This is stupid" right before he goes clambering down the side of the impossibly tall edifice in one of the many vertigo-inducing stunts, while a crowd watches the show unfold from the streets far below.

"I reached a point in my career where I was exhausted of trying to be something I wasn't", Johnson said.

Neve Campbell, Chin Han, Noah Taylor, Roland Møller, Byron Mann, Pablo Schreiber, and Hannah Quinlivan co-star.

Skyscraper will open in theaters on Friday, July 13.
