This morning, Trump replied to Fallon's interview via his Twitter claiming the host had called him after the interview and said "monster ratings".

American talk show host Jimmy Fallon is now here to help you find your summer read!

"Fallon spoke emotionally about the segment to THR's "Awards Chatter" podcast on Tuesday, where he explained he never meant to "'normalize' [Trump] or to say I believe in his political beliefs".

Last Tuesday, The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Fallon about The Tonight Show, his career, and the infamous 2016 interview with Trump. "Get over it.'" the NBC funnyman added. Trump's critics were angry with Fallon for apparently being too kind to Trump, feeling he should have been grilling him with tough questions instead.

Trump's opponents bashed Fallon for what they called a softball interview during which the former "Saturday Night Live" star playfully stroked the Republican nominee's hair. What do you want me to do?

"But I want to be there". You want me to kill myself?

He said he works hard and is one of the "good people", but faced a "gang-mentality" online. "I get in at 10 in the morning, I work 'til seven at night and I'm just trying to make a amusing show". Stephen Colbert's Late Show has since taken the lead in the late night ratings, in part due to Colbert's relentless and harsh criticism of the president. "What would make you happy?"

Jimmy Fallon responded hours later, saying that, in honor of the President's tweet, he would be making a donation to RAICES Texas in President Trump's name. What would make you happy? I'm sorry if I made anyone mad. He adds that he "would do it differently" looking back on the September 15, 2016 episode.
