Kylian Mbappe has assured France fans he is "fine" after being forced to leave their first World Cup training session in Russian Federation after a blow to the ankle in a clash with team-mate Adil Rami.

Mbappe has been a pivotal player for France over the past year and has started each of the last seven friendlies, getting three goals and four assists in that time.

The Paris Saint Germain youngster fell on the ground after a tackle by the Marseille defender and was holding his ankle before heading off for treatment.

The teenager scored 21 goals in all competitions and also found the back of the net for France over the weekend as they drew 1-1 with United States of America in a warm-up match.

Les Bleus kick off their World Cup campaign against Australia on June 16 in Kazan.

"I'm fine, it's just a hit so it does not matter but thank you for your messages", the 19-year-old posted on Twitter.

Mbappe scored the leveller after being teed up by Stuttgart's Benjamin Pavard and was nursing a knock by the end of the encounter, which he insisted is nothing to worry about ahead of the trip to Russian Federation.

That was just the attacker's second full senior season having broken into Monaco's first team as they won the title in 2016-17, Mbappe scoring 26 goals in all competitions as they also reached the Champions League semi-finals.
