Under the tag of "Polestar Engineered', Volvo will roll out the upgrades alongside its all-new S60 saloon next week, with the same elements appearing on the V60 and XC60 T8 models later in the year".

The difference here is that Polestar is focused on "electrification" and the first of the new-generation "Polestar Engineered" products will be the T8 version of the third-generation S60 sedan that's due to be revealed in a week from now.

A revised ECU raises the total power output of the Polestar Engineered to 409bhp - at least in the U.S., though Volvo sources say that United Kingdom cars should be roughly the same. It can be found on the Brembo brake calipers, as well as the seat belts and shock absorbers.

Volvo will reveal the new S60 next week at its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Charleston, South Carolina.

With Polestar Engineered, various aspects of the auto like the wheels, brakes, suspension and engine control unit are improved using Polestar's performance engineering expertise. Tweaks to the latter will hike the peak outputs of the S60's 2,0-litre electrified T8 Twin Engine to 309 kW and 670 N.m, with Volvo furthermore claiming an improvement in fuel consumption. A slotted design in the brake discs and the brake pads improve heat tolerance.

"The new S60 T8 Polestar Engineered is an electrified vehicle that does what you want it to", said Henrik Green, senior vice president of research and development at Volvo Cars. Gold will replace light blue as Polestar's new hallmark color, the company notes.

A number of dynamic features accompany the Polestar Engineered S60's additional power, including adjustable Öhlins shock absorbers and a strut-tower brace cribbed from the 600-hp Polestar 1 gasoline-electric hybrid coupe as well as a pair of gold-painted six-piston Brembo calipers for the front brakes.
