Reports in Germany suggest that Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno after a €20 million bid (via Sport Witness).

Leno only has two years remaining on his Leverkusen contract, but if Arsenal are to land the German, they must move quickly and improve their bid before Napoli come calling.

As noted in the report, both Napoli and Atletico Madrid have been linked with a move for the Germany global, but Arsenal appear poised to win the race for his signature.

Leno had been regarded as one of the brightest goalkeeping talents in Europe when he was younger but his development seems to have stalled in recent years in Germany.

Adli, who is an worldwide with France at youth level, was set to become one of new Gunners coach Unai Emery's first signings at the Emirates Stadium and even travelled to London with his agent Moussa Sissoko last weekend.

And Leno has been one of the most impressive keepers in the Bundesliga, making 233 league appearances for Leverkusen.

German worldwide Leno began his career with Stuttgart in 2009 before moving on to Leverkusen in 2011. During his time at Sevilla, in particular, Emery showed he could get the best out of players with plenty of potential.

Sokratis will become the second defender signed by Arsenal so far this summer after right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner joined from Juventus on a free transfer. The Premier League club have offered him a five-year deal and are confident that he will sign it.
