'Wonder Woman 2' Director Confirms Chris Pine's Return With New Image

Trevor was Wonder Woman's love interest and a military spy during World War I in the first movie.

In a pleasant morning surprise, Warner Bros. has released the first Wonder Woman 2 images from the highly anticipated sequel, as filming on the follow-up is now underway. The first shows Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman staring at a wall of television monitors, while the second is a spoiler of sorts as it confirms Chris Pine is returning as Steve Trevor.

Judging by the people's clothes, Trevor is definitely in the 1980s... so this isn't a flashback. Narcos and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal has also joined the cast of the film in a key role.

Production will take place in Washington, D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, and in the UK, Spain and the Canary Islands. Rebecca Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Wesley Coller, Walter Hamada, and Geoff Johns are executive producers.

The director has also confirmed Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) will be playing Wonder Woman's nemesis Cheetah in the sequel. Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson (United 93) will cut the film.

Set to open in theaters November 1, 2019, Wonder Woman 1984 is based on the character created by William Moulton Marston, appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment.
