You can check out the trailer for yourself in the unadulterated gameplay trailer below, but be warned, it doesn't pull any punches, so if you're more Yoshi's Whooly Mittens then you might want to look away.

However, at the beginning of the Rage 2 trailer there appeared to be a very brief bit of in-game footage.

"Born from a collaboration of the Gods of Shooters, id Software, and the Masters of Open World Mayhem, Avalanche Studios, RAGE 2 packs a carnival of carnage so intense it can only come from two legendary AAA studios".

In case you missed it, here is the live-action trailer that officially introduced the world to Rage 2. Till a point in 2012, id Software, the developer of the first Rage game was rumored to be behind the sequel as well. A sequel to 2011's Rage is indeed real, and we are bound to see gameplay at Bethesda's E3 press conference next month. In the decades following an asteroid's devastation, most of the earth has become an unforgiving wildland where bloodthirsty factions vie for control of precious resources.

If RAGE 2 isn't something that you fancy, do know that Bethesda has a wide range of games to show off this E3 for different people, so it's best to keep that in mind.

In the year 2185, humanity's numbers are dwindling. In the interview, Willits also reveals that the game will follow the games as a service approach - that is, the model where games receive lots of post-launch content in an effort to get people to play for longer. The remaining humans form gangs, while the Authority tries to "rule with an iron fist". As a ranger named Walker, the player seeks payback after their home is taken and they're left for dead. While it is hard to draw a conclusion from just this one series of scenes, the clip immediately shows that Rage 2 has more character and tries to be more charming than its predecessor. The game will be available in spring 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
