The 4G feature phone market grew at more than 50 percent quarter-on-quarter, driven by Jio Phone.

OnePlus continued to keep more than 50 per cent share in the U.S. 400-600 segment (Rs 27,000-40,000) on the back of popular models like OnePlus 5 and 5T. The operator disrupted the market by introducing aggressively priced data plans at Rs 49 in the initial weeks of the January-March quarter acting as catalyst for growth.

OPPO climbed to third position from fifth in the last quarter while vivo slipped to fourth position as its shipments declined by 29.4% year-over-year in the first quarter. The selfie-cam is coupled with an LED flash and also offers support for AI portrait mode as well as an AI beauty mode.

Transsion made its debut in the top 5 with more than threefold annual growth in shipments in 2018Q1, taking a 4.6% share.

Their 4 smartphone brands: iTel, Tecno, Infinix and Spice recorded 3X increase in sales a year ago, which made them eligible to be ranked in the top 5 position. However, vendors will have to set up SMT (Surface Mount Technology) units in the country if they want to avoid the higher import duties.
