White Sox Conclude Road Trip With Series Against Oakland Athletics

After a number of postponed games, will the Chicago White Sox be rusty when they return to action tonight when they face the Oakland Athletics tonight at 10:05PM ET?

Chicago (+130) is coming into this one as the underdog against Oakland (-140) and Vegas has set the Over/Under for this game at 8.5 runs (-110 for the over and -110 for the under). The White Sox are now 4-8 overall and 3-3 on the road. It was his 4th homer of the year. Chicago is 3-4 ATS over its last seven games and the total has gone under in four of those seven. They've lost 5.5 units for moneyline bettors and 5.4 units ATS. Let's go with the Over here and the clincher is the fact that the Over is 22-3-2 in Oakland's last 27 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.

Right-hander Reynaldo Lopez will get the start for the visiting White Sox.

The Athletics haven't announced their starting pitcher for Tuesday's game, but Andrew Triggs will start the series finale on Wednesday.

Daniel Mengden gets the start for Oakland tonight. Mengden has 12 strikeouts and two walks to his name, as well as a 1.31 WHIP. Caps are navy blue with "SOX" laid out diagonally in white. On the mound, they have been poor in the early going as they enter this contest ranked 25th in the league in ERA at 4.92, while also ranking 27th in WHIP at 1.50 and 30th in K's with 86. This team should be well rested and they hope that it will help them regroup, especially since they had lost eight of their last 10 games. The A's won five of the six meetings between these teams previous year. Oakland is led by Jed Lowrie and Matt Chapman on offense. Lowrie leads the team with a.348 batting average and 14 RBIs.

Compared to his overall season slash line of.234/.313/.472, Chapman performed well against righties at home a year ago, slashing.308/.373/.598 over 118 such plate appearances.

The game is being played on the 50th anniversary, to the day, of the A's first game in Oakland (which was against the Baltimore Orioles, a 4-1 loss); the A's had started the 1968 season with a three-city road trip before playing their home opener. The bullpen has managed an ERA of 5.35, along with a WHIP of 1.44. The White Sox should get their offense back on track some against Mengden and we do note that they did average 6.00 rpg over their first six games.

The White Sox have hit 10 home runs in their last 10 games. The Athletics have hit 17 over their last 10.
