On Friday morning just before 11 a.m. deputies pulled over a 2014 Chevy Impala near Mile Marker 397. The deputy reported smelling marijuana in the auto, and a subsequent search turned up 114 pounds of pot and some cannabis edibles.

When officers looked inside, the SUV was packed with 78 pounds of marijuana sealed in clear bags.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, failure to have a drug tax stamp, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cash linked to a drug transaction, Houchin said.

Investigators believe Sierra-Quezada was planning to bring the marijuana back to Iowa, Houchin said. The estimated is street value of the pot is $500,000 - $600,000, officials with the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office said.
