After announcing that it would update its handset to Android 8.1 Oreo last month, Razer has now followed through on the commitment, releasing the update over-the-air and rolling it out over the coming weeks.

According to Razer, all owners should have the update within 10 days, since they're utilizing a gradual rollout method. Don't forget the backpacks - they've got backpacks too. The phone will be available in retail stores soon, and it's available online right now with Chrome or Green accents at the same $699 price. Today, Razer announced that Android 8.1 Oreo is now being rolled out to Razer Phones around the world. Best Buy joins Razer.com, Amazon, and Microsoft Stores in carrying the handset.

The newest update to the device - software-wise - is the device's move to Android 8.1 Oreo.

The OS update brings along a cleaner visual design, improvements to the Dolby Atmos app and support for the Netflix widget. Users can also expect a Nova Launcher update, system improvements, and bug fixes. That's the launcher Razer works with to bring a customizable experience to the device which also has granular controls of several kinds - gaming-aimed.
