'Night Court' actor found dead in his Asheville home, officials say

Harry Anderson, who starred in NBC's '80s sitcom Night Court, has died at the age of 65, our sister site Variety is reporting.

According to North Carolina's Asheville Police Department, officers responded Monday morning to Anderson's home, where he was found deceased inside. No cause of death has been released, but no foul play is suspected.

Anderson was born on October 14, 1952, in Newport, Rhode Island.

Apart from his role as Judge Harry T. Stone on "Night Court", Anderson also appeared in "Cheers" and "Dave's World". After making a splash with numerous appearances on "Saturday Night Live", he had a lengthy recurring role on "Cheers" as Harry "The Hat" Gittes. The actor is survived by his wife and two children. He relocated to the Asheville area from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
