This is a common tool used by traders and investors to try to gauge potential reversal of a trend. The Stochastics oscillator is used to add confirmation to the trade entry. Whilst a crossing of the center line may be interpreted as a warning of an impending trend change, only values over 70 are usually regarded as a buy signal and those below 30 as a sell signal. A reading from -80 to -100 would indicate an oversold situation. The RSI is considered to be an internal strength indicator, not to be confused with relative strength which is compared to other stocks and indices. The permissible values for RMI lie in the range between 0 and 100. When the RSI line moves up, the stock may be experiencing strength. Different time periods may be used when using the RSI indicator. The RSI may be more volatile using a shorter period of time. In the net flows calculation is not included the performance of the etf but only share redemptions (outflows) and share purchases (inflows). It should be obvious that no matter how well rounded the portfolio is, there are always risks in the equity markets.

S&P Regional Banking ETF SPDR (KRE) now has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of -67.52. A CCI reading above +100 would imply that the stock is overbought and possibly ready for a correction. A reading under 30 may indicate that the stock is oversold, and possibly undervalued. The original guidelines focused on creating buy/sell signals when the reading moved above +100 or below -100. Many chart analysts believe that an ADX reading over 25 would suggest a strong trend.

When combined with the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI), it can help decipher the trend direction as well. The RSI may be useful for spotting abnormal price activity and volatility. EM Fixed Income ETF SPDR (EMTL)'s Williams Percent Range or 14 day Williams %R now sits at -36.11. In general, and ADX value from 0-25 would represent an absent or weak trend. A value of 50-75 would indicate a very strong trend, and a value of 75-100 would signify an extremely strong trend. The data is represented graphically by fluctuating between a value of 0 and 100.

Some investors may find the Williams Percent Range or Williams %R as a helpful technical indicator.
