Sony has today announced the launch of its latest flagship device, which comes loaded with some top-of-the-line camera hardware. "Xperia XZ2 Premium also offers one of the best front-facing cameras on a smartphone with its 13MP, 1/3.06" low-light sensor and display flash - for outstanding selfies in any light. The dual camera system of the XZ2 Premium is probably the largest upgrade of all, which comprises of a 19MP color sensor and 12MP monochrome sensor, this is the first dual camera sensor that is able to reach a maximum ISO of 51200 on photos and ISO 12800 on videos.

On the front, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium bears a 13-megapixel camera with a 22mm wide-angle lens, f/2.0 aperture, and a 1/3.06-inch Exmor RS sensor.

The Xperia XZ2 Premium looks like a slightly larger version of its current Xperia XZ2. It is powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with 6GB of RAM. What is the price that you are expecting for the phone? The Xperia XZ2 Premium is expected to be released during Summer 2018 which is sometime around June.

The build quality is the same as the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium has the same 3D glass on the rear and aluminum frame as the XZ2. However, while the sensor is capable of recording 4K HDR videos, it's not clear yet if the main sensor is capable of recording at 60fps.

The dual-SIM (Nano) Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium runs Android 8.0 Oreo. The company claims that its AUBE fusion image signal processor can combine data from both sensors, reduce the noise, and optimize for low light so that users get good results.

There's also a difference on the front camera. This will give the XZ2 Premium more light when shooting in darker conditions. The only difference is that there is now a dual camera setup on the back, something we missed on Xperia XZ2.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 is available now with a SIM free price of £699, but a range of deals and offers are available. It ships with a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter in the box.

A spokesperson told TechRadar: "Given the strength of the existing Xperia XZ range, specifically the XZ2, XZ2 Compact, and XZ Premium, there are now no plans for widespread ranging of the handset [XZ2 Premium] in the United Kingdom and Ireland".

There's been no word on what the Xperia XZ2 Premium might cost. The previous model cost £649 at launch, which the new model obviously won't, so we suspect it will be £799 - but obviously nothing has been confirmed.

Availability is slated for summer 2018, but we don't know when pre-orders will open.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium comes soon after the launch of the XZ2, casting a shadow over Sony's new phone. The new device now comes with a new design and is the first flagship from Sony to sport a dual-lens camera on its rear. Both the cameras come with f/1.8 aperture and Exmor RS sensors. The smartphone also boasts a 4K HDR Triluminos display with an IPS 65/68 certification for water and dust resistivity.
