Browns sign Josh Gordon to exclusive rights tender

To put how much Gordon's suspensions have cost him into perspective, the Browns on April 13 signed wide receiver Jarvis Landry to a four-year, $75.5 million contract.

The Browns on April 16 announced they have signed four exclusive rights free agents - wide receiver Josh Gordon, fullback Dan Vitale, offensive lineman Austin Reiter and wide receiver Matt Hazel.

As we noted back in February, Gordon could theoretically have been a free agent after the 2014 season, but his various suspensions meant that he did not have enough service time to reach the open market. The contract covers only the 2018 season and is worth $790,000.

While Gordon was drafted in the 2012 supplemental draft, he missed the majority of two full seasons serving National Football League suspensions for drug use.

Gordon returned to the Browns and played five games last season following an National Football League suspension and a lengthy rehab stint.

Josh Gordon will be with the Cleveland Browns for at least another season.

Gordon led the entire National Football League with 1,646 receiving yards in 2013 while catching 87 passes. Gordon scored nine touchdowns in 2013. He's eligible to be a restricted free agent in 2019.
