TV presenter Ant McPartlin has been fined £86,000 at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court after admitting driving while more than twice the legal alcohol limit.

McPartlin was also banned from driving for 20 months and had requested to do a drink driving course, which if he completed would reduce the ban to 15 months.

Inside the court, as she handed down her sentence, District Judge told McPartlin: "You were a man of good have lost that good character".

In his statement to police the court heard McPartlin said "I am very sorry I did this". Get Me Out Of Here! co-presenter was found to have 75 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath, which is more than double the legal limit of 35.

McPartlin's Mini collided with two other cars during the incident. In it he accepted full responsibility and said that he is "ashamed and mortified" and that he intended the incident would be a turning point for him.

Ant was found to be twice the legal limit when he crashed his auto into two other vehicles in South London on March 21.

The court was told that that Mr McPartlin was receiving treatment for "alcohol and emotional issues".

He continued: "He is doing everything he can so this never happens again".

Ant is now seeking treatment following a stint in rehab a year ago, after struggling with an addiction to painkillers which he developed after a knee operation back in 2015.

The TV host appeared in court this morning.

Ant - whose mother Christine was in the passenger seat of his vehicle at the time of the collision - has taken time off from co-presenting Britain's Got Talent alongside Dec Donnelly.
