Liverpool and Tottenham suffer transfer blow over Stuttgart star

Top of their list, it seems, is Benjamin Pavard, as revealed by BILD on Wednesday, who report as an exclusive that a Spurs scout recently travelled to a Stuttgart game to watch the 21-year-old in action.

Bild claim that Liverpool, along with top four rivals Tottenham, are enamoured with the young French worldwide who has found success since moving to the Bundesliga in 2016 from boyhood club Lille, where he spent 11 years rising through the ranks.

In the same article, the German newspaper relay quotes from the German side's director of football, who said: "If this summer, a club thinks it can buy for €30m, that club would be wrong". Pavard is clearly talented, and his recent call-up to the deep and talented French national team serves as proof of that.

It would also be a signing that would risk squeezing out Gomez, who Klopp rates highly.

Pavard started his career at Lille before joining Stuttgart in 2016 and is now under contract until 2021.

As a result, the likes of Tottenham, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool are among clubs showing interest in his services.
