Predator, Alita release dates get pushed back

Though while they set a new date for that film, the studio also pushed back the releases for a couple other high profile films.

Fans of The Predator will have less time to patiently bide, with Shane Black's newest entry in the beloved franchise now set to release just five weeks behind schedule. That will put The Predator up against the action film Alpha, the Mandy Moore thriller The Darkest Minds, and Stephen Merchant's new comedy Fighting with My Family. They've set the Murder on the Orient Express sequel, Death on the Nile, for November 8, 2019, which will give the film the same release frame as the original.

Let's start with Shane Black's upcoming Predator film. The film is directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau from a screenplay by Cameron, Rodriguez, and Laeta Kalogridis.

The film stars Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Alife Allen, and Thomas Jane.

Here's the Alita: Battle Angel synopsis.

Set several centuries in the future, Alita (Rosa Salazar) is a cyborg found abandoned in the scrapyard of Iron City by Dr Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz). Alita has no memory of her past but maintains her deadly fighting skills, which come in handy when warriors from her history catch up to her. Whether or not this is a death sentence for Alita: Battle Angel is a matter of opinion (opinion: this is probably a death sentence for Alita: Battle Angel), but even if you think Rodriguez has a blockbuster on his hands - that's some serious competition. It was originally slated for release on the 3rd August 2018, but is now, per Fox's announcement, scheduled for the 14th September. Kenneth Branagh is set to return as director and as iconic detective Hercule Poirot. As our fearless leader Simon Brew points out, the movie's now undergoing a round of reshoots, so it seems likely the production needs a few more weeks for editing and so forth.
