Remember how big a crush you had on Harvey Kinkle?

The character of Harvey is described as "the son of a coal miner, a dreamboat and a dreamer, completely unaware of the dark forces conspiring to keep him and Sabrina apart". In the original series starring Melissa Joan Hart, the role was played by Nate Richert.

Lynch was recently seen as a young Jeffrey Dahmer in My Friend Dahmer. The 22-year-old actor will return to his comedic roots for Status Update, which stars fellow Disney Channel alumni Olivia Holt (Kickin' It, I Didn't Do It) and Gregg Sulkin (Wizards of Waverly Place). He is repped by UTA, Management360, Savage Agency, and Felker Toczek Suddleson Abramson. The Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot is also a Riverdale companion series and is based on the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comics. Sabrina finds herself wrestling with her dual nature, half-witch/half-mortal, while she takes on the forces of evil that threaten her, her family, and the people of the daylight world. The show is within the universe of the Archie comics, so ties up with Netflix series "Riverdale". Ross Lynch will join Lucy Davis, Miranda Otto, Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, and Bronson Pinchot in the cast.

The Age of Adaline's Lee Toland Krieger is attached to direct the series.

Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said: "We're all such huge fans of Kiernan's work that when we started talking about who this new incarnation of Sabrina could be, her name was on everyone's wish list". The show is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros.
